A 21 Week Old Baby in the Womb

A picture began circulating in November. It should be "The Picture of the Year," or perhaps, "Picture of the Decade." It won't be. In fact, unless you obtained a copy of the US paper which published it, you probably will never see it. The picture is that of a 21-week-old unborn baby named Samuel Alexander Armas, who is being operated on by a surgeon named Joseph Bruner. The baby was diagnosed with spina bifida and would not survive if removed from his mother's womb. Little Samuel's mother, Julie Armas, is an obstetrics nurse in Atlanta. She knew of Dr. Bruner's remarkable surgical procedure. Practicing at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, he performs these special operations while the baby is still in the womb.

Robert Flores walked onto the campus of the University of Arizona at Tucson and opened fire on three of his female instructors, murdering them in cold blood. In his 22-page letter, discovered later by investigators, Flores sketches the story of his failed marriage, poor health and the slights he perceived from a nursing school he claimed treated male students as "tokens."

Stolen Childhood (from Family Research Council)

Last year, I reported to you on Justin Berry, the 19-year-old man who was profiled in a lengthy New York Times article on child pornography on the Net. When he was just 13, Justin got a webcam and started frequenting online chat rooms. His seduction began when a predator paid him $50 to take off his shirt. Soon, Justin was performing sexual acts for the camera and cash. Justin's story of his sordid life as a lonely child of divorce who was cruelly exploited-for years-by sexual predators was written by Times reporter Kurt Eichenwald. It's one of the few occasions I've had to hail The New York Times. Justin appeared yesterday before the House Energy and Commerce Committee. "At 13, I believed these people were my friends," Justin testified. He continued: "They were kind. They complimented me. They wanted to know about my day." What a challenge for churches, for youth groups like the Boy Scouts, for caring and protective adults to fill the void in the lives of so many children. One year ago Justin turned over to the Justice Department the names and credit card numbers of the 1,500 pedophiles he interacted with, to date only one has been arrested. FRC's Tom McClusky met with Justice Department umbers officials this morning to appeal for quicker, tougher enforcement of child porn laws. Late last night, Secret Service agents and local law enforcement netted Brian J. Doyle--Deputy Press Secretary for the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. Doyle, 55, has been charged with using a government computer to seduce a 14-year old girl!

Permalink 12:09:42 am, Categories: Suicide

Suicide is not the way out of pain. In fact, many believe it is ending life in an act of sin leading to the ultimate eternal pain in hell.

But, one statistic that remains constant from culture to culture is the correlation between suicide rates and divorce rates.

Children of Divorce

Divorce torments children and deprives them of the secure family love they need. Divorce makes children more susceptible to peer pressure, drug abuse, gang violence, promiscuity, teen pregnancy, depression, suicide, and low academic performance and how it affects their likelyhood of success in marriage once they become adults.
