Many times when people go through a divorce, the court will order secular counseling for the children, and often this will help children and parents cope better with divorce.
As Christians, this can be unnerving when we hear our children seeming to be indoctrinated with the secular notion that divorce is OK, that it is normal for families to break up.
We need to submit to governing authority as an act of faith in God knowing that even if the governing authority is not always honorable, the best things happen when we trust God and submit.
We may also be prohibited from speaking to our children about the divorce, and this will upset us as it is a grave violation of our rights. We may wonder why this is all happening and why we cannot speak freely with our own children and train them up correctly in the way of the Lord. It may upset us that the court may threaten to take our children away if we speak out against divorce.
It's wrong. It's unfair. It's dishonest. We're violated. It is truly very evil. But, if we want to change it, we need to surrender this to God in prayer, and ask what He would have us do about it. If we're feeling bitter, we need to surrender that to God. If we're feeling rebellious, we need to surrender that. Anger, revenge, ranting, raving, fuming, insulting, cursing, none of these things are the answer.
What is needed is submitting to God totally and praying not just alone, but with people. Tell others. Tell them about these web sites and help them see the importance of it and help them get involved. Get together and contact your congressman.
