Most divorces are one-sided. One spouse wants out, and the other spouse doesn't.
Some mediators and mediation trainers I include at this web site actually do help resolve issues and help save marriages if possible. I would never consider sending any business to someone who would do otherwise.
Can one be fair and be evenhanded between a terrorist and his or her victim? Or between a rapist and the victim?
In a divorce, there is a deliberate attempt by one spouse to deprive the other spouse of something that may very well be the most important thing in that person's life. Some may argue that everyone should be free to do what they wish and stay with whom they wish. But, if the words of the wedding ceremony are intended to be true, a marriage is a binding agreement. Once we give our vows, we do not own them. They belong to our spouses, to society, and to God, and we owe them a debt to honor the vows we made so that right to marry can be honored in truth.
But, today, America, Australia, and much of Europe lacks the backbone and integrity to allow real marriages. They want to give their vows without having to back them up with courage, integrity, and sincerity of love.
And, I believe the mediator who launches ahead with the divorce without knowing whether it is viable is being irresponsible and hypocritical and lying when he or she claims that this is done for reason of being even-handed. Pushing the divorce through is favoring the spouse wanting to end the marriage in spite of what the other spouse wants, in spite of what the children want, in spite of what the families would want, in spite of the damage it does to the sincerity of the institution of marriage in this nation, in spite of the injustice it brings upon the faithful and their children.
And, to do so while claiming to seek out the best well being of the children is a lie and a hypocrisy as it would be challenging to find a child abuse greater than that of the destruction of a child's parents' marriage.
As for judges who get rid of mediators who help save marriages, there is a special place in hell for such people because a loving God could never bring such a person into heaven unless they repent and endeavor to make restitution for the absolutely unfathomable amount of damage they do.
